Slow Textiles

MORE PROJECTS – emotionally durable design

These projects address the emotional in textiles.

They aim to create emotional piquance and durability in artefacts that embody participation, feeling, effect and experience.

They present the opportunity for addressing artefact as container.

If you are interested in psychology and textiles (ie textiles as veil, membrane, second skin, inside/outside, internal/external, hidden/displayed, conscious/unconscious mark-making and narrative, a means to define/map space and structure, emotive container, symbolic mediator, etc) and their meeting place then these projects will be additionally illuminating.

Project 1: ‘Fabric of the Family’

This is a group stitch project working around the theme of family.

The first phase of the project is ‘multiple families’ and addresses areas relating to separation, divorce and step-family.

Resulting artworks will be exhibited in 2011.

If you have experience of any of the above and are interested to participate in a pioneering group textiles work (for exhibition) then please leave your interest below. Thank you.

Project 2: ’Participatory Design for Fashion’

Phase One of this exciting commercial project offers Participatory Design for children’s fashion.

Phase Two introduces Participatory Design for womenswear.

If this is an area you are interested in contributing to (design, making, packaging, marketing, etc), then please leave a message below. Thank you.
